Which proxy is the best? And why?
« on: January 13, 2010, 07:21:34 AM »
Which proxy is the best? And why?

1.) What in your oppinion is the best ( safe, fast etc.) proxy out there. There are so many, it's really hard to choose. Are there all more or less the same? Are some better than others? What should I look for?

2.) What is the difference between an open proxy and a web based proxy regarding speed, safety, which is better?

3.) What proxy software is best? Or does it matter at all?
Glype, SSL , PHProxy 0.5, SSL , CGIProxy, SSL , Unknown, SSL, CGIProxy , any other?

4.) What is the best proxy to use for security when paying bills online and what is the best proxy for business email ( we send customer details addresses etc., dates of travel, airline bookings back and forth ) ? Is it also safe/invisible to others in hotels, airports on cruise ship …WiFi or other connection?

5.) Is personal VPN a better solution ? What are the best ones? Prices?

6.) I have tried hide IP platinum ( slow ) and anchorfree is this in your oppinion a good service for security for paying bills, anonimity when browsing ?

7.) Will using a proxy make problems for email delivery? Will it make some emails nondeliverable or stuck in junk filters?  Is this a possibility?

1) What in your opinion is the best?
It depends on what you want to do with proxies.

2) What is the difference between an open proxy and a web based proxy?
It depends. Some IP proxy may be faster or safer than some web proxy, another may not.

3) What proxy software is best?
I recommend Glype if you want to setup a web proxy site.

4) What is the best proxy to use for security when paying bills...
Please do not use proxy to do online payment, or you may be regarded as hacker and your order may be suspected. It's usually safe to use direct connection because the communication between your PC and the payment website such as PayPal is encrypted.

5) Is personal VPN a better solution?
I have on idea about VPN.

6) Is this in your opinion a good service for security for paying bills?
No. Please use direct connection to pay online. It's OK to surfing ordinary sites with proxies.

7) Will it make some emails non-deliverable or stuck in junk filters?
Yes if the proxy you are using is in the blacklist of the mail server.

Thank you for the quick answer Terry.

1.) I want a proxy that makes all the information I send not visible to anyone weather on my home ISP or on WiFi hot spots in hotels, cruisehips or cyber caffe's. ( we send customer details back and fourth including payment details ). I also want a high anonimity proxy for personal browsing and/or political forums post. Which one is best for this?

2.) How do you find out which proxy is safest most anonimus... are there any lists?

3.) OK

4.) OK. Even if I use it for paying bills for our firm at our bank?

5.) Where can I find information about VPN?

6.) OK

7.) How can you make sure that all your outgoing emails are delivered and incoming emails all arrive?
What do you have to watch and do to assure this?

In fact, proxy is not so safe as you think.

hack12: I just wanted to find out if proxy's are safe. I mean can proxy's record passwords etc when someone is surfing through them. Or can the owner place a sniffer and sniff out the content or hijack the connection. Could someone please help out with this. Thx

Terry: It all depends on the proxy administrators. They can easily do that if they want...

ZERO: what's can administrator of proxy do if I work with his proxy? can stole my passwords, my credit card, see my PC, search in my hard disk?

Terry: If you send your passwords or credit card information through a proxy to a HTTP site, the proxy knows what you sent.
If to a HTTPS site, the proxy can't know what you sent because all the data is encrypted.

So it's safer to directly access an encrypted (https) website (such as PayPal) than to use a proxy.
You'd better setup your own https proxy if you need high anonymity. You can setup a web proxy using Glype on a https host.

If you use web mail such as Yahoo Mail, you need not to worry about your outgoing email failed. It only occurs when you use local SMTP server to send mass emails through socks proxy.

Thank you for explaining, it's starting to make sense now.

1.) So to recap. If going through a proxy no one can see my browsing and emails on my home/office ISP or on WiFi hot spots in hotels, cruisehips or cyber caffe's when traveling. However the administrator of the proxy can see everything if he wants.

2.) How would I go about seting up my own https proxy for high anonymity?
Are there any tutorials for doing this?

3.) When I am in the office I use my company email that we have set up at our ISP through their local outgoing server and  when I am out traveling I use the same email with some outgoing server of the country I am currently in.

4.) There are 10 - 100 emails daily, is that considered mass email? Could that be a problem?

1) Yes, and you should use the https proxy.

2) Here are two tutorial about how to set up a website:
Code: [Select]
http://www.thesitewizard.com/gettingstarted/cost-setting-up-website.shtml
http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creating/setup.html

3) There is no problem if you use the mail server of your company. There is no problem when you are on traveling because your emails will first go to the mail server of your company and then go to the mail server of the receivers.
4) 100 emails daily is not considered as mass email.

if you wanna be safe, then hack a server and run your own proxy server, make sure its a High anonymous proxy and don't log data. Most of the public proxies you see out there you never know logs data, and even the web proxies. So you never know. I would advise you to use CONNECT proxies or socks5 of your own, or use Proxy as a back connect. Google for d3xt3r's reverse proxy lab!

1.)   Why is a https proxy better than others? And what are best https proxys?

2.)   I know how to set up a web site, but I want to know how to set up my own proxy.

3.)    I have problems with outgoing servers if I am abroad. I have to find a outgoing server of the country I am currently in to work 100 %.

4.) Ok. Thanks.

Can you elaborate on this?

1) When you surf the https website, the communication is encrypted. So https website is safer than ordinary sites. However ordinary proxy can not surf https sites, so you need https proxy or socks proxy.

2) Then you can download the script file from glype.com and upload to your server.

3) "outgoing server"? Wherever you are, you should be able to use the STMP server of your company, such as "stmp.company.com". Just like you can visit Google wherever you are.
