vodafone 3g ...doesn't support socks?

i just bought a vodafone 3g modem, with a contract and i tryed to use a socks proxy server and it didn't work.. what shall i do ? can i make this possible? i realy need it , i need socks support. i activate it from the tools menu and the browser doesn't feel it.
