Title: What's gateway proxies
Post by: Terry on January 12, 2006, 05:59:16 AM
They are some similar proxies such as:
Code: [Select]
22.33.44.8
22.33.44.9
22.33.44.10
22.33.44.11
22.33.44.12
22.33.44.13
22.33.44.14
22.33.44.15

If you use them to browser the online proxy checker such as:
http://ip.my-proxy.com , you will find that actually all of them connect to the internet through one proxy, 22.33.44.1 for example.

Brief Report
Your IP 22.33.44.1
...
Detail Information
REMOTE_ADDR 22.33.44.1
REMOTE_HOST 22.33.44.1
...

If you don't want to be identified as the same IP by the website after changing your proxy, you should not use the gateway proxies. However it makes no difference if you only want to surf anonymously.

Elite Proxy Switcher (http://www.eliteproxyswitcher.com) can test whether a proxy is a gateway proxy.
Forum Proxy Leecher (http://www.forumproxyleecher.com) support "remove gateway proxies" when testing the proxies.
