Title: The connection was refused when contact the proxy?
Post by: Greg135 on February 17, 2009, 02:26:30 AM
Hey there,

I have tested various Level 1 proxies but often get this:

Proxy Server Refused Connection
The connection was refused when attempting to contact the proxy server you have configured. Please check your proxy settings and try again.

The browser is configured to use a proxy server, but the proxy refused a connection.
    *  Is the browser's proxy configuration correct? Check the settings and try again.

    *  Does the proxy service allow connections from this network?

    *  Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

Do you just discard that particular proxy and move on?

Regards

Greg

You can click the "Try again" button. If it still doesn't work, switch to another proxy.

Terry,

But every single Level 1 proxy that I try comes up with the same problem.....

How long do the proxies remain useable?

Because proxies usually die fast: http://forum.my-proxy.com/proxy-questions/why-proxies-always-die-quickly-t93.0.html
please test them every time before you use them.

When you use a proxy, maybe it has already kept working for several days, it may die next minute.
Most proxies can only be working for several hours, so we have to update our proxy list every day.
