Title: Proxies not working. My original IP is showing
Post by: Funchal on October 23, 2006, 07:45:44 PM
I use Firefox's proxy add on and have quite a list of proxies I use.
I decided to check on grc.com to make sure the correct IP was showing and it seems that for some reason, my original IP is showing instead of the proxy.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening and what I could do about it?? It's extremely frustrating.

Thanks in advance for your help.

1) Did you config your browser correctly?
How to use proxy in Internet Explorer & FireFox:

2) Did you mean your real IP was shown on
Code: [Select]
https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2

In order to show that page, you need a proxy that supports HTTPS (SSL). I just tested it with the proxy: 201.6.30.171:6588 (Level 2, supports https) It hided my IP completely.

Only a few proxy supports HTTPS, so you'd better test your proxy by a http page, such as:

Ahh. Thanks, Terry. I didn't realize that was the case.

I tried the proxy you referenced and it gave me a time out error.

Don't suppose you have any ideas on how to fix that, do you??......:)

You can try those proxies. Please test them before you set them in the firefox.
