Can I make my computer a private proxy?
« on: May 19, 2009, 07:38:31 PM »
I'd like to make my computer in the US a private high-anonymity proxy for someone in the UK, and in exchange they would make their computer a private high-anonymity proxy for me. That way, we can watch streaming TV shows from each other's country. Is this possible?

Yes, you can use the software WinGate or CCProxy to make your computer a private proxy.
Elite Proxy Switcher - Easily testing and using proxies.
Socks Proxy Checker - To be your chief socks proxy checker.
Buy Proxy - Buy checked proxies from My-Proxy easily and quickly.

Cool, but do those support the elite/high-anonymity option? I found a site that listed different proxy server software, but it only mentioned transparent proxies. Also, apparently Hulu's proxy detection is more advanced than I realized, is it just not possible for someone in the UK to watch shows on Hulu, even with an elite proxy and no old cookies? I suppose they could still visit (some?) network sites, though.

I installed CCProxy but I'm having trouble finding any kind of anonymous option at all. I Googled their site and didn't find any reference to it, either.

If you check this option [Advanced->Network->Allow HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR], it's a transparent proxy.
The default setting is anonymous.
