FPL is it worth it?

I was going to purchase FPL... but I decided I will check out the Proxy List on My-Proxy.com first, since its generated by the guys who sell FPL and updated daily. I figured it should be the freshest list and the best representation of whether FPL works or not..

To my surprise, I manually tested like 50 proxies on the list, and out of 50, only one was working. What gives?  Does FPL really produce such terrible results?  I tested the proxies on March 24, 2008, and according to the list on my-proxy.com, the list was last updated on March 24, 2008.  How can FPL find so many dead/non-working proxies?  Is it better to use one of the free tools instead?
