About the Codeen/Planetlab Proxies

CoDeeN proxies usually don't support all HTTP types, which means that you can't login forums, download files or surf https sites. Some people say that the CoDeeN proxies are absolutely useless. But at least you can use them to surf most ordinary sites.

Of course, the easiest way is switching to another proxy if you have enough proxies.

The fastest way to identify a CoDeeN proxy is to remember that most 3128/3127 proxies are CoDeeN proxies.

CoDeeN isn't a general-purpose proxy, but other than a few
 addresses being banned, anyone is free to use it. The system
 provides different levels of service depending on whether you're
 part of PlanetLab or not, but there's no charge to access the  
 system.
 
 The "digits" being mentioned in this thread are a fairly standard
 "CAPTCHA" test, and are just used to periodically check whether
 it's a human sending traffic through CoDeeN.
 
 As you've notced, POST, etc., are not available to members of  
 the general public.

The part about the CAPTCHA being offered only to people affiliated
with PlanetLab, or who have paid for CoDeeN, is wrong. Anyone who
uses CoDeeN can answer the CAPTCHA and get the extra bandwidth.

As for the CAPTCHA, that's what Terry was referring to at the
start of this thread when he said "Enter the digits or characters required"

He even posted a screen cap.

I wanted to dispel any suggestion that CoDeeN charges.

katmando u are right but no need to be a dick about it. also a good note if u want to filter out codeens put port 3127 and 3124 in port filter for charon. those r all codeen/planet lab proxys

OK. Is there any other KINDS of proxies that DO allow you to sign up/sign in and is there anyway to specifically filter these ones out for use?

Yes, of course, to both of your questions.  Do some more reading on the subect of proxy servers (HTTP and Socks).

There are many ways to filter out Planetlab/CoDeeN proxies.  You can do so within the best piece of proxy analyzing software (Charon ... it's free) or within most any commercial proxy analyzing software:  AATools, Helllabs Proxy Checker and a few others.  Proxyfire (both free and pro versions) can do it, but their proxy checking module is flawed as it reports many transparent proxies as anonymous.  So does, by the way, Bleach, the proxy analyzing module for both programs being pimped on this site (FPL and EPS).  Only the professional versions of these programs allow you to exclude Planetlab/CoDeeN proxies.  The free versions do not, but all are flawed as described above.

In all cases YOU, the user, will need to maintain your list of Planetlab/CoDeen proxy Address in order to effective exclude them all.  Or, you can load your list at the following site and tick the appropriate box in order to filter them from your lists.

hi everybody why is every body trying to get rid of codeen proxies they are very usefull and who says you can`t download from them. Few things you can download only from them.
