Is it safe to use gmail throgh a proxy?

I wonder can a local provider trace your ip if you use an already made gmail account but you now access it through a proxy server and send messages?

Are there any logs on where the gmail account was made and can they get access to it?

It's safe to use the encrypted connection of Gmail through a proxy:
https://mail.google.com

Otherwise the administrator of the proxy server is able to know your information.
